Terms of Service

These terms apply to the Vollefy scoring app and to the Vollefy director console at vollefy.com, both provided by Vollefy LLC, a Florida limited liability company. By using either, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use them.

What Vollefy is

Vollefy is software for running volleyball events: scoring matches courtside, keeping a rally-by-rally record, sharing a live scoreboard, and organising schedules, pools and brackets. It is a tool for the people running an event. It is not a governing body, a sanctioning organisation, or an official record-keeper.

Scores and documents are your record, not an official result

Everything Vollefy shows is what somebody entered. Scores, statistics, scoresheets, standings and brackets produced by Vollefy are records kept by users. They are not certified results. Where an event, league or governing body has its own scoresheet or protest procedure, that procedure governs and its document is the authoritative one. Do not rely on Vollefy alone to determine a match outcome, a ranking, a qualification or a dispute.

Vollefy’s USAV-format documents are formatted to resemble the familiar paper forms so they are easy to read. That resemblance is a convenience and is not an endorsement by, or an affiliation with, USA Volleyball or any other organisation.

Age

Vollefy is intended for people aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, use it with the involvement of a parent, guardian, coach or event organiser.

Accounts, PINs and access codes

The app needs no account. The director console does, and you are responsible for keeping your password and any multi-factor device secure, and for what happens under your account.

Vollefy uses short access codes and PINs so that a volunteer can pick up a tablet and start scoring without a login. Treat them like keys: share them with the people who should be scoring, and rotate them when that changes. Anybody holding a valid code can score on the court it belongs to.

Your data and your responsibilities

You keep ownership of the tournament, team and player information you enter. You give us permission to store and process it so we can provide the service, and to display it on public scoreboards where you have chosen to publish it. You are responsible for having the right to enter the information you enter — in particular, rosters that include minors — and for complying with your own organisation’s rules about it.

Feedback you send us through the app may be used to improve Vollefy without any obligation to you, and without your name attached, because the app never asks for one.

App stores

If you downloaded Vollefy from Apple’s App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app. Vollefy LLC, not Apple, Google or Amazon, is responsible for the app and its content, and none of them is a party to these terms.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use Vollefy to store or publish anything unlawful, abusive or deliberately false;
• try to reach data belonging to an event you are not part of, or to guess, share or brute-force access codes;
• interfere with the service, probe it for weaknesses without permission, or run automated traffic against it;
• copy, resell or reverse-engineer the software.

We apply rate limits to protect the service. If you hit one during legitimate use, tell us and we will raise it.

Availability

Vollefy is designed to keep working when the venue’s internet does not: a match keeps scoring locally and syncs later. Even so, we do not promise the service will be available without interruption, and we may change or discontinue features. Keep a paper scoresheet if your event requires one.

No warranty

Vollefy is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vollefy LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or a disputed match result. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred United States dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to the extent permitted.

Ending it

You can stop using Vollefy at any time, delete your data from the app’s settings, and ask us to close a console account. We may suspend or end access that breaks these terms or puts the service or other users at risk.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Hillsborough County, Florida.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version and effective date at the top of this page change when we do, and continuing to use Vollefy after that means you accept the update.
